Haypi Kingdom Buildings: Every Building, What It Does, and the Right Upgrade Order

All 11 Haypi Kingdom buildings explained: Main Building workers, Warehouse cap, Cranny raids, Barracks, Wall Traps and Turrets, plus a week-one build order.

Every city in Haypi Kingdom ran on a short list of buildings, and the difference between a player who got raided into the dirt during week one and a player who was farming forts by 3rd Baron was almost entirely build order. This is the full Haypi Kingdom buildings list — what each one does, why it matters, and the upgrade order that survives the seven-day protection cliff — written for the original and for Prestige: Kingdom War, the rebuild that keeps the same short list at eleven buildings.

Short answer
The eleven buildings are the Main Building, Warehouse, Cranny, Lumber Mill, Stone Mine, Iron Mine, Cropland, Barracks, Market, Technology Center and City Wall. In the rebuild each goes to level 20. Week one goes Main Building first (it sets your worker count), then the four resource producers with the Warehouse always one step ahead of them, then the Cranny before protection ends, then Barracks, Technology Center and Wall. Nothing else matters until you have that spine.

The eleven Haypi Kingdom buildings at a glance

Haypi never gave you a big menu of buildings the way browser games like Travian did. You had one city screen, a handful of plots, and a level number on each. That simplicity was the point: with so few things to upgrade, every level you put somewhere was a level you did not put somewhere else, and other players could read your priorities straight off a scout report. The rebuild keeps that short list at eleven, covered on the Haypi Kingdom pillar page, each capped at level 20.

Main Building: workers and the population cap

Haypi’s official tutorial listed seven icons across the top bar: wood, stone, iron, crop, worker, money and coin. The one new players ignored was worker. The tutorial called them slaves, and they came from one place only: your Main Building level. Every other building consumed workers to be upgraded, every troop consumed population to be trained, and when the counter hit zero your city was simply stuck until the Main Building grew. That is why the answer to “what do I upgrade first” was never a resource field. It was the Main Building, every single time, until it was a few levels ahead of everything else.

Money, the soft currency research ran on, came from elsewhere: selling at the Market, occupying forts, hunting, or exchanging coins. The Main Building’s job was workers, and workers were the gate on everything. In the rebuild, the Main Building fills the same role: it sets the worker cap and the population pool, which is what makes the city-building guide open with the same instruction veterans remember.

Warehouse and Cranny: capacity and raid protection

Warehouse before farming

The Warehouse sets a cap on each of the four resources. Production above the cap does not queue up; it is lost. The oldest Haypi mistake was pushing a Lumber Mill three levels past the Warehouse, going to bed, and waking up to a full bar and eight hours of wasted output. The rule was and is: the Warehouse stays one level ahead of your best producer. If you are about to level a mine and the Warehouse is already near full, the Warehouse comes first.

Cranny sizing versus raid risk

The Cranny hides a fixed amount of each resource from anyone who beats your defense. It does nothing for you while beginner protection is running — seven days, or until you reach 3rd Baron, whichever comes first — which is exactly why people skipped it and got farmed on day eight. Size it against the threat, not against your ego: if the players around you are one or two titles above you, the amount you can lose in one raid is whatever sits above the Cranny line, and every level of Cranny is cheaper than the resources it saves in a single bad night. Once you are a real fighter with a garrison and a wall, the Cranny drops back to a secondary priority. Until then, keep it roughly level with your producers.

The overflow trap
A Warehouse that is full at login is a sign that your producers outran it. A Warehouse that is empty after a raid is a sign your Cranny was too small. Both are build-order errors, not bad luck, and both show up in the resource numbers before anyone attacks you.

Lumber Mill, Stone Mine, Iron Mine, Cropland

The four producers are where most of your levels end up over a server’s life, and they are the ones people overthink. Two things decided their order. First, troop costs: Infantry cost 120 wood, 100 stone, 180 iron and 40 crop in the rebuild, Cavalry 440/550/750/200, and Catapults 1,800/780/990/250. Iron is the largest line item for Infantry and Cavalry, so the Iron Mine runs ahead of the Lumber Mill and Stone Mine once the basic economy is standing. Second, crop is not a building material; it is upkeep. Every Infantry eats one crop an hour, every Cavalry four, every Catapult ten, and at zero crop your troops starve. Cropland is the building you level for the army you plan to have, not the one you have now.

In Haypi, the fastest way to boost any of the four was not the building at all but the Technology Center: Woodcutting, Digging, Smelting and Planting research multiplied the output of every city you owned. Occupying oases did the same for a single city. The resource management guide goes deeper on balancing all three levers, but the short version is that a level 10 producer with research behind it beats a level 14 producer without.

Barracks, Market and Technology Center

Barracks

The Barracks trains all four troop types. Base times in the rebuild are 30 seconds for Infantry, 60 for Cavalry, 45 for Archers and 120 for Catapults, so an idle Barracks is what leaves you staring at a queue while your alliance is already marching. It also earns prestige: every unit you train adds its population cost to your prestige total, which is how the Barracks quietly drives your title climb. The rebuild adds a Battle Simulator inside the Barracks that runs mock fights through the real combat engine, which is the fastest way to learn what the four troop types actually do.

Market

The Market was the release valve. Selling surplus for money was one of the four money sources Haypi listed in its tutorial (alongside occupying forts, hunting, and exchanging coins at 1 coin to 2,000 money), and buying the resource you were short on was how you kept a build queue moving. In the rebuild it is a player-to-player marketplace for resources and treasure, and the same logic applies: a low-level Market is fine, but never having one means every shortage becomes a wait.

Technology Center

Research in Haypi was money-based, not resource-based, and it applied to every city you owned. That made the Technology Center the highest-leverage building in the game once your worker count allowed it. The rebuild keeps eleven technologies: Woodcutting, Digging and Smelting at plus five percent per level, Planting at plus ten percent crop per level, Shooting Skill for range, Scout Skill, Marching Skill at plus three percent speed, Attack and Defensive Skill at plus two percent each, and the two that unlock your wall: Trap Research and Turret Research. Costs roughly double per level, which is why the Market and fort income matter more than they look. There is a separate breakdown of the research order on the technology page.

City Wall: Traps and Turrets

The City Wall was the only building in Haypi that fought back. It housed two things, Traps and Turrets, each upgradable to level 10, and each gated by its own research at the Technology Center. That double gate is what caught people out: a level 12 wall with no Trap Research is a decorative fence. Traps punish the first wave of attackers; Turrets fire at range, which made them the counter to everything except Catapults. Catapults are the fort-breakers and turret-killers in the rebuild, with 400 base range against the Archer’s 200.

Wall priority depends on where you sit. Under protection it is irrelevant. In the week after protection ends, a modest wall plus a right-sized Cranny is what makes you an unprofitable raid target, which is really all a new city can hope for. Later, the Wall plus a garrison is the foundation of an unbeatable defense; on its own, it never was.

Week-one build order under the 7-day clock

Beginner protection lasts seven days or until 3rd Baron, whichever comes first. In the rebuild, 3rd Baron is 1,150 prestige, and since training troops earns prestige equal to their population, a keen player can end their own protection early by building an army. That is fine if it is deliberate. It is a disaster if it happens on day three by accident. The order below assumes you want the full week.

  • Days 1–2: Main Building to a clear lead over everything else. Complete the tutorial tasks, which pay out resources you should spend on nothing but buildings.
  • Days 2–4: The four producers, with Iron Mine slightly ahead and the Warehouse always one level above the top producer. Start Woodcutting, Digging, Smelting and Planting as soon as the Technology Center is up.
  • Days 4–5: Cranny to roughly producer level. Barracks to a level that trains a small Infantry-heavy garrison without stalling.
  • Days 5–6: City Wall, then Trap Research and the first Trap levels. Market at least to level one so you can move surplus into money for research.
  • Day 7: Cropland check. Add up the hourly crop cost of the army you now have and make sure production covers it with room to spare, or you will feed starvation instead of the enemy.

If that reads like a lot for one week, the quickstart checklist compresses it to a single screen you can tick off between logins.

The same eleven buildings, level 20 cap, live servers

Prestige: Kingdom War rebuilds the Haypi city screen you remember: Main Building workers, Warehouse overflow, Cranny raids, Traps and Turrets to level 10. Free on iOS and Android.

Then and now: how the rebuild handles buildings

The original stopped updating at version 3.20 on August 28, 2013, and its final release notes still talked about buildings in the old vocabulary: improved worker regeneration, raids on unoccupied oases and forts. Prestige: Kingdom War, released on iOS on May 28, 2026 and also on Android, is not a port of that code. It is a ground-up rebuild, and the building layer is where it stays closest to the source.

Key facts
Buildings
Eleven, the same list as the original
Level cap
20 per building in the rebuild
Traps and Turrets
Level 1 to 10 each, gated by Trap Research and Turret Research
Research currency
Money, kingdom-wide, at the Technology Center
Beginner protection
7 days or 3rd Baron, whichever comes first
Cities
Multiple per player, unlocked by title, on a 600 by 600 map

Two differences worth knowing. The rebuild puts a Battle Simulator inside the Barracks, so the question of whether your wall and garrison can hold is testable before someone tests it for you. And oases and forts each have ten levels with NPC garrisons that scale, so the producer-versus-oasis decision is sharper than it was on a 2011 server. Everything else about the eleven Haypi Kingdom buildings, from the worker gate to the overflow trap to the empty wall with no research behind it, works the way your muscle memory expects.

Bottom line

Main Building first, Warehouse ahead of the producers, Cranny before protection ends, research behind the wall before you trust it. That was the whole Haypi Kingdom build order, and a short list of buildings was enough to make it matter. If you want to run it again on a live server rather than in memory, the rebuild keeps all eleven and the level 20 cap that came with them.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are all the buildings in Haypi Kingdom?

There are eleven: Main Building, Warehouse, Cranny, Lumber Mill, Stone Mine, Iron Mine, Cropland, Barracks, Market, Technology Center and City Wall. The Wall houses Traps and Turrets, each upgradable to level 10 once the matching research is done. The Prestige: Kingdom War rebuild keeps the same eleven, each capped at level 20.

What is the best build order in Haypi Kingdom?

Main Building first, because it sets your worker count and nothing else upgrades without workers. Then the four resource producers with the Warehouse kept one level above the highest of them, the Cranny before beginner protection ends, then Barracks, Technology Center and City Wall. Level Cropland for the army you plan to feed, not the one you have.

What does the Main Building do in Haypi Kingdom?

It sets your worker cap, which Haypi's tutorial called slaves. Every building upgrade consumes workers and every troop consumes population, so a low Main Building stalls the whole city. It is the first thing to upgrade on any new city and should stay a few levels ahead of the rest through week one.

How big should my Cranny be in Haypi Kingdom?

Large enough that a raid by the players around you takes less than one night of production. The Cranny does nothing during the seven-day protection period, which is why people skip it and get farmed on day eight. Keep it roughly level with your producers until you have a wall and a garrison, then let it fall behind.

Why is my Warehouse always full in Haypi Kingdom?

Because your producers outgrew it. The Warehouse caps each resource, and any production above the cap is lost rather than queued. The fix is a simple rule: the Warehouse stays one level ahead of your best producer, and if it is near full when you go to bed, the next upgrade is the Warehouse, not a mine.

Do Traps and Turrets need research in Haypi Kingdom?

Yes. Traps and Turrets live on the City Wall and each goes to level 10, but both are gated by their own technology, Trap Research and Turret Research, at the Technology Center. A high-level wall with no research behind it adds nothing to a fight. Research is bought with money, so Market sales and fort income matter here.
