The Haypi Kingdom Guide: Every System Explained, and Where to Play It Again
A complete Haypi Kingdom guide: the 7 resources, the official quick-start order, 3rd Baron protection, troops, traps, oases, market, 20 titles, alliances.
Every Haypi Kingdom guide that mattered in 2011 is a dead link now. The two Fandom wikis are abandoned, the old forum barely stirs, and the official tutorial page on haypi.com is the last primary source still standing. This is a full Haypi Kingdom strategy guide written from that tutorial and from three years of actually playing — system by system, with a note on how each one works today in Prestige: Kingdom War, the independent rebuild where the whole formula is playable again.
The seven top-bar resources
Haypi’s own tutorial started with the top bar, and so should any how-to-play Haypi Kingdom guide, because the seven icons up there were the whole economy in miniature.
- ▸Wood, stone, iron — the building and troop materials, produced hourly by the Lumber Mill, Stone Mine and Iron Mine, stored in a Warehouse with a hard cap.
- ▸Crop — produced by Cropland and eaten continuously by every troop you own. The tutorial put it plainly: if you don’t have enough crops, your troops will starve. Crop was the leash on army size.
- ▸Worker — the tutorial called them slaves. Your population came from Main Building level, and every troop consumed some of it. No workers, no training queue.
- ▸Money — earned by selling at the Market, occupying forts, hunting, or exchanging coins at 1 coin = 2,000 money. In the rebuild it is also what pays for technology research.
- ▸Coin — the premium currency. Speed-ups, production boosts, VIP time, buying resources and treasures, recalling troops, city loyalty. New players started with 30.
In the rebuild: the same seven, with the same jobs. Crop still feeds troops and at zero crop they starve; workers still come from the Main Building; the Cranny still hides a slice of your stock from raiders. The economy is not simplified, which is the point. The Haypi Kingdom buildings page walks through all eleven buildings and what each level buys you.
The quick-start Haypi itself recommended
Buried in the official tutorial was a nine-step order of operations. It is still the best Haypi Kingdom beginner guide ever written, because the developer wrote it against the real pacing of the game.
- ▸Tasks first. The task list paid out rewards for doing what you should be doing anyway.
- ▸Upgrade buildings, technology and troops. Resource fields before the Barracks, and the Main Building for workers.
- ▸Join an alliance. Alliance members could not attack each other, so this was also your first defense.
- ▸Hunt at oases for treasure and money.
- ▸Occupy an oasis or fort for the production bonus.
- ▸Use the market to convert surplus into what you were short on.
- ▸Upgrade your title with prestige, and later with treasure items too.
- ▸Build more cities once your title allowed it.
- ▸Wage war.
Notice how late war comes. Veterans who lost their first army on day two usually skipped straight to step nine. The sequence is the same in Prestige: tasks, build, alliance, hunt, occupy, market, title, branch cities, then war — and the in-game task chain still nudges you along it.
Beginner protection: 7 days or 3rd Baron
New players were untouchable for 7 days or until they reached the 4th title, 3rd Baron, whichever came first. That second clause was the trap. Prestige came from training troops and fighting, so an eager beginner could promote themselves out of protection on day three with no wall and no alliance. Old hands deliberately sat under the 3rd Baron line until their Cranny, traps and turrets were ready.
In the rebuild: identical rule — 7 days or 3rd Baron. In Prestige the 3rd Baron threshold sits at 1,150 prestige, and prestige from training equals the population cost of the troops, so a few hundred cavalry can end your shield early. Watch the number.
Troops: range, speed and who strikes first
Four unit types, and the whole combat game lived in the tension between them. Infantry were cheap, fast to train and ate the least crop — the meatshield. Cavalry were the fastest movers and the raiding class. Archers hit from long range. Catapults were slow siege pieces with the longest range of all, the only real answer to a turret wall.
Two rules governed everything. An army marched at the speed of its slowest unit, so mixing a single catapult into a cavalry raid turned a fast strike into a crawl. And speed decided who struck first while range decided whether your ranged units got to fire before melee closed. Carry capacity — Haypi’s word was overload — capped how much plunder came home, which is why raiders ran cavalry and infantry, not archers.
| Speed | Range | Carry | Crop/hr | Population | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Infantry | 150 | 25 | 80 | 1 | 1 |
| Cavalry | 300 | 40 | 100 | 4 | 4 |
| Archer | 125 | 200 | 40 | 2 | 2 |
| Catapult | 50 | 400 | 40 | 10 | 10 |
Those are the rebuild’s base stats, not a claim about the original’s exact numbers, but the shape is the one you remember: catapults out-range everything and move at a crawl, archers out-range melee, cavalry outrun everyone. Marching Skill adds 3% speed per level and the Speed attribute plus a horse and manual push effective speed to a cap of 190. The Haypi Kingdom troops page has the full attack, defense, life and cost table and the matchups.
Traps and turrets: the City Wall
Attackers met your City Wall before they met your army. Traps and turrets lived on that wall, and catapults were the unit that knocked turrets down. Behind the wall, the Cranny kept part of your resources out of reach no matter who won. A properly built wall did not make you unbeatable — it made you unprofitable to raid, which in a game about overload was the same thing.
In the rebuild: the City Wall builds Traps and Turrets to level 10 each, and both need their own research (Trap Research, Turret Research) at the Technology Center first. Catapults are still the turret-killers. The research order matters more than people expect; the Haypi Kingdom technology page covers all eleven techs, including the +5% per level on Woodcutting, Digging and Smelting and the +10% per level on Planting.
Every system in this guide is live again
Prestige: Kingdom War rebuilds the classic Haypi Kingdom formula — crop starvation, traps and turrets, oases and forts, twenty titles, alliance wars — on a persistent 600×600 map. Free on iOS and Android.
Oases, forts and hunting
The world map was the other half of the game. Oases gave a production bonus to whoever held them; forts were bigger, richer, and paid money to the occupier. Both were guarded, and the good ones were always contested, so the map was a permanent land war between neighbours. Hunting was the safe cousin of occupying: you sent troops to an oasis to bring back money and treasure instead of holding ground. Haypi’s final update, v3.20 in August 2013, added a Raid feature for unoccupied oases and forts.
In the rebuild: oases and forts come in ten levels with NPC garrisons that scale, capture grants production bonuses, higher titles unlock more oasis slots and fortified points, and hunting troops cannot be attacked — which, as veterans work out quickly, is also a way to hide an army during a war.
Market, money and coins
The Market was where surplus turned into money. You listed wood, stone, iron or crop for sale and money came back. Money mattered because it bought what the fields could not, and the exchange rate anchored everything: 1 coin bought 2,000 money. Coins came from the shop, but also free — Try Your Luck, treasure chests, Earn Free Coins, and a recruited friend reaching 1st Viscount. The market was where a patient player out-built a spender: sell your surplus at the right hour and you never needed the coin store.
In the rebuild: the Marketplace trades resources and treasures between players, coins are earned through tasks, a daily spin in the Try Your Luck mould, chests, events and referrals, and VIP is optional. If you are hunting for a Haypi Kingdom coin hack, the honest answer is on the Haypi Kingdom cheats and coins page — there never was one, and the free routes are what actually worked.
Prestige and the twenty titles
Everything you did generated prestige, and prestige climbed you through twenty titles, with Baron, Viscount and the rest each split into three grades. Titles were never cosmetic. Promotions came with better general attributes, and building more cities waited on your title, so your rank was literally the size of empire you were allowed to run. The upper rungs also demanded treasure items as well as prestige, which is why endgame players hunted so obsessively.
In the rebuild: twenty titles again, from 3rd Civilian to King. 3rd Baron at 1,150 prestige, 1st Viscount at 20,000, 3rd Duke at 1,150,000, King at 11,500,000, with the consumables kicking in at 3rd Marquis and King demanding four Scepters and four Crowns. Each promotion grants Attribute Points and Skill Points, and higher titles unlock more branch cities, oasis slots and fortified points. Prestige never falls below your current title’s minimum, and War Prestige favors the underdog, so beating someone bigger pays more. The Haypi Kingdom titles page lists all twenty thresholds and what each unlocks.
Alliances: where the game actually lived
Nobody remembers Haypi Kingdom for playing solo. An alliance gave you a leader, officers, an alliance chat channel, and one rule that shaped the whole server: members could not attack each other. Joining one was the tutorial’s third step for a reason. The rank screen tracked title, prestige and alliance standings, and server-wide alliance wars were the thing veterans still talk about first.
In the rebuild: a Leader, up to five Vice-Leaders and members, alliance chat alongside World and Private, the no-friendly-fire rule, and formal alliance wars. There is a public alliance directory on the site if you want to find your old server-mates before you log in.
This Haypi Kingdom guide, then and now
Haypi Kingdom shipped on January 18, 2010, was updated for the last time on August 28, 2013, and has been unlaunchable on any iPhone running iOS 11 or later since September 2017 because it was never rebuilt as a 64-bit app. Haypi never posted a shutdown date. Prestige: Kingdom War is an independent ground-up rebuild inspired by the classic, not a port and not affiliated with Haypi Co. It keeps the four resources, crop starvation, the four troop types, traps and turrets, oases and forts, the twenty-title ladder, the alliance rules, and adds a Battle Simulator in the Barracks so you can test compositions with zero stakes.
Bottom line
The Haypi Kingdom formula was never complicated; it was unforgiving. Feed your troops, stay under 3rd Baron until your wall is up, march at the speed of your slowest unit, hunt before you occupy, join an alliance before you make an enemy, and treat titles as the size of your kingdom rather than a badge. Every one of those lessons is current again in Prestige: Kingdom War, and if you learned them the hard way in 2011, you start with a head start.
Prestige: Kingdom War is an independent game and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Haypi Co. Haypi Kingdom is referenced as the classic that inspired it.
Frequently Asked Questions
You build a city on four resources (wood, stone, iron, crop), keep crop positive so your troops do not starve, train infantry, cavalry, archers and catapults, capture oases and forts on the world map, climb twenty general titles on prestige, and fight inside an alliance. Haypi's own tutorial recommended: tasks, build, alliance, hunt, occupy, market, title, more cities, then war.
Seven days, or until you reach the title of 3rd Baron, whichever comes first. Because training troops and upgrading generate prestige, over-eager beginners often promoted themselves out of protection early. Prestige: Kingdom War uses the same rule, with 3rd Baron at 1,150 prestige.
Coins were the premium currency: speed-ups, production boosts, VIP time, buying resources and treasures, recalling troops and city loyalty. One coin exchanged for 2,000 money. New players started with 30, and free coins came from Try Your Luck, treasure chests, Earn Free Coins and a recruited friend reaching 1st Viscount.
Twenty. In the rebuild's ladder they run from 3rd Civilian at the bottom to King at the top, passing through Baron, Viscount, Earl, Marquis and Duke in three grades each, then Prince Regent. Titles unlocked more cities and better general attributes, and higher promotions also required treasure items such as scepters and crowns; in the rebuild they also grant skill points and extra oasis and fort slots.
Not the original: its last update was version 3.20 in August 2013, and it cannot run on iOS 11 or later. Prestige: Kingdom War, an independent rebuild released in May 2026 for iOS and Android, keeps the same formula: four resources, crop starvation, four troop types, traps and turrets, oases and forts, twenty titles and alliance wars.
