Resource Management Guide
Strategy games are won in the economy. Learn how to balance production, avoid overflow waste, keep your army fed, and protect resources from raids.
Strategy games are won in the economy long before they’re won in battle. The player who manages resources well out-grows everyone else. This guide covers the four-resource economy, the two mistakes that quietly cripple you, and how to keep your war machine fed.
The four resources
Most kingdom-war games run on four resources plus a premium currency. In Prestige: Kingdom War they are:
- ▸Wood — your primary construction and training material.
- ▸Stone — heavy construction and upgrades.
- ▸Iron — military units and wall upgrades.
- ▸Crop / food — feeds your army. This is the one that bites people.
The two mistakes that cripple you
Nearly every stalled account is making one of these:
Keep production balanced
Don’t over-invest in one resource. Upgrades and troops need a mix, and a pile of wood you can’t pair with stone and iron just sits there. Keep your resource buildings at similar levels, and lean toward whatever your next big upgrade or troop batch demands.
Protect a reserve
Active players are raid targets. Most games give you a way to shield a portion of your resources (a cranny or vault) — keep it upgraded so a successful raid nets the attacker little and you don’t lose your upgrade fund overnight.
Put it into practice
Prestige: Kingdom War leans into this economy — crop genuinely feeds your troops, so resource management is a real skill, not an afterthought. Pair this with the city building guide for build order and the multiple cities guide once you expand. New here? Start with the kingdom strategy guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Three rules: never let storage overflow (you lose the excess), never let food hit zero (troops starve), and keep production balanced across resource types. Protect a reserve from raids with your cranny or equivalent.
