Forts, oases, and resource tiles are how you turn a strong army into a lasting advantage. Capturing territory gives ongoing bonuses; holding it is what separates winners from players who just farm. This guide covers both.

Why territory matters

In most kingdom-war games, map features give continuous rewards: oases boost resource production, forts provide income or prestige, and controlling an area projects power over your neighbors. In Prestige: Kingdom War, occupied oases feed bonus production into your cities and forts provide steady income — passive value that compounds the longer you hold them.

Taking territory

  • Scout first. Know the defending NPC or player force before you commit an army.
  • Bring the right composition. Lead with infantry to soak defenses, then your damage. See the troop composition guide.
  • Match the level to your strength. Higher-level forts and oases hit harder — don’t bite off more than your army can chew.

Holding what you take

Capturing is the easy part. Holding is the skill. The rule is simple: only take what you can defend.

  • Garrison captured tiles with enough troops to survive a counterattack.
  • Stay near your alliance so reinforcements arrive before you lose the tile.
  • Watch for decay or upkeep mechanics — some games (Prestige included) reduce a tile’s value over time, so manage your holdings actively rather than hoarding tiles you ignore.
Don't overextend
A fort on the far side of the map that you can’t reinforce is a liability, not an asset. Concentrate your territory where your alliance is strong.

Territory is a team sport

The strongest territory control is coordinated. Alliances that cluster their holdings can reinforce each other instantly and wall off whole regions of the map. For how to organize that, read the alliance warfare guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you hold territory in strategy games?

Only take what you can defend. Garrison captured forts and oases with enough troops to survive a counterattack, keep them near your alliance for fast reinforcement, and don’t overextend into territory you can’t protect.
